Kentucky Fried Whodunnit Pays Off
With twists and turns abound, Knives Out is an entertaining and well woven story. Although not utilized to its fullest potential, the ensemble cast works well with and against each other to backstab, manipulate, and lie to get what they want out of the protagonist Marta. The running gag of her throwing up every time she lies is unique and effective, especially as a plot device. All in all a sound movie due to its unconventionality, Knives Out is worthy of a rewatch, but I expected a little more humor out of such a great cast and writer.
Sidenotes: The constant changing of Marta’s nationality (Uruguay, Paraguay, Brazil, Ecuador) underlined the vapid selfishness of the family humorously
The changing of characters dropping off the cake at the party underlined the unreliability of the narrators
