Rewatch. I swear I remember watching a big chunk of this movie during the 'Friday Frightmares' block on the ol' Space channel (Canada's version of the Sci Fi channel) back as a preteen, but it was part of a compilation of old zombie movies called 'Zombies Zombies Zombies' that also had a good amount of Zombie Lake in it. I could have done with more body horror and less generic zombie action, but I'm also not gonna sit here and pretend that this movie where an impossibly gorgeous Marilyn Chambers feeds on the blood of men through insectoid stingers she grows out of her armpits was not 100% my jam. Really interested in seeing what the Soska sisters do with this material.
Aside from the obvious such as the setting and characters this utilizes many iconic elements from the show, but never reminded me of why I LIKED those elements in the first place. It looks bad, it lacks any of the bite or cynical tone of the original series and it gave me a headache.

Loved, loved, loved this. Easily one of my favourites of the year. Ujicha has done it again with another feature length gekimated body horror nightmare that is all kinds of nasty gross and bordering on tastelessness! Violence Voyager like his previous film 'The Burning Buddha Man' is an unsettling psychedelic journey told with paper cutout animation that flies harder and harder off the rails and into vomit spewing body modifying face melting insanity!
